Stress
is the most common word that is use these days with respect
to health problems; we find people complaining of stress
and related problems and it is probably due to the effect
of hectic life style being followed in general. It has also
been noticed that people involved in intellectual work (mental
work), rich people and those holding high posts suffer from
this problem. However, stress-causing elements is given
to use naturally but it also gives us the ability to fight
our stress in special circumstances. If the stress system
is used continuously for long time and it is not given enough
time to calm down then it could give rise to several diseases.
Some changes in our life style and daily routine can be
helpful in managing stress.
Objective: Explaining the reactions of stress, reasons,
types, symptoms of stress and its treatment.
Definition: Stress is basically the change in our daily
routine due to some special or specific demand or situation.
Reasons: External- work pressure, lack of time pressure
due to too much information, Approach or attitude towards
a particular thing, lack of time management, lack of planning.
Internal-myths-attitude, laziness, uncontrolled errors due
to emotions, playfulness, imbalance in glands and brain,
disorders of digestive system.
Types of stress: Physical, mental and emotional Symptoms
of stress: Physical-stiffness in body and muscles, irregular
breathing, selling on face, cold hands and feet, shaking
limbs or shivering, frequent urination, loose motions etc.
Mental-irritable nature, attacking mood, worry, disappointment,
sleeplessness, wavering mind, forgetfulness etc.
Behavioural- addicting to alcohol etc., unorganized daily
routine, lack of social life, body language depicting stress.
Active organs during stressed condition – hypothalamus,
kidney, heart, lungs, and nervous system.
Tips: First and foremost avoid the stress causing factors
and use the tips that help in overcoming it like diet related
changes, practice of asana-pranayam, meditation and chanting
Vedic hymns.
Others methods- planned working style, tolerance, think
twice before speaking, organized work routine, positive
thinking, self-controlled life style, mutual understanding.
When a person overworks (more than his or her physical and
mental capacity) it leads to stress. Thinking about past,
mental worries and imagination makes the brain stressed,
Pride, anger, greed and other such emotions bring in mental
stress.
It is advisable to lead a spiritual, balance and simple
life in order to control stress from reaching harmful levels
and this is known as stress management. However, a little
amount of beneficial stress is required for better performance.
